Alana Lyons has deep roots in the craft beer community that started over a decade ago when a bottle of Pliny blew her mind. Her tastes have since refined into a preference for crispy AF lagers. Her partner is a craft brewer and her favorite hops are whatever is in ABGB’s Rocket 100. She is a PNW-based designer and illustrator, a first generation immigrant, and one of the first 100 fly anglers to complete the Western Native Trout Challenge.

Simcoe® was released in 2000 by Yakima Chief Ranches and is said to have been ahead of its time. It was used in several influential craft beers like Pliny the Elder from Russian River and Ranger IPA from New Belgium. Simcoe® still remains a top 10 variety today and boasts several different aromas, including passion fruit, pine, earthy, and citrus.
